FMBCH is back...
get 'em while you can
Hi everyone!
You may or may not notice that this list has outgrown the free mailchimp service so I’ve migrated you all over here. This is a quick note to thank you for being on this list and let you know what’s going on on my end. Lots of changes recently!
First though, FMBCHs (fork mounted brake cable hangers) are back in stock. As I’ve mentioned before, this is the last batch for a little while. I am glad you’ve all been so enthusiastic about them (and patient!) but I need to overhaul the process of making them to make it more efficient and consistent, and address some design changes at the same time. Hopefully I’ll be able to share an improved version relatively soon. If you’ve been looking to snag one, look… now.
In other news, I switched day jobs a couple of weeks ago. For those of you that don’t know, Shovel Research is just me and I also have a full time job. Anyway, I’m still at a machine shop, but I made sure to stock up on Rod Steward bag supports and light mounts before the transition, so there should be plenty of those for the next couple months as I get settled and learn some new machines.
After spending December-March (the lead up to the Philly Bike Expo) basically only thinking about bicycle framebuilding, I got really excited about fabrication and being able to do more limited release stuff under Shovel Research. I am looking forward to complementing the production side of Shovel Research with more constantly creative endeavors including more frame building, home goods, furniture projects — who knows. Working on a new set of websites to showcase all my projects. This is the landing page while that’s under construction. This feels somewhat like a new venture and I am letting it evolve at whatever pace it does.

mechanical shifting coming soon :)
That’s it for now. Look for brake boosters to land on the website Friday May 3!
